MXF is the abbreviation for “Material Exchange Format, a container or a wrapper format for digital audio and video media defined by a set of standards defined by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers ( SMPTE ).

To play MXF files, you should know that it is an open file format aimed at the interchange of audio and video material with associated data. It has full timecode support and metadata support and is intended as a platform agnostic sable standard for professional audio and video applications to evolve. And Without advanced tools, it was impossible to distinguish these incompatible formats.

Then, how to play MXF files? There are few applications can playback MXF directly. After doing a lot research about it, I found a application called Raylight Decoder that can play MXF files in some way.

Raylight Decoder is from DVFilm- an official Panasonic P2 Partner, details. It is a DVCPro HD/DVCPro 50 Quicktime component for Windows that allows you to play Apple DVCPro HD/DVCPro 50 Quicktimes on a PC

Raylight Decoder supports all DVCPro HD formats: 720p60, 720p50, 1080i60, 1080i50, and PAL/NTSC DVCPro 50, and all frame rates.

But as what you can see from the above statements, Raylight Decorder, Raylight Decoder can only work on PC and playback Panasonic P2 DVCPro HD, DVCPro 50 MXF files, what if you are a Mac user, and get Panasonic AVC Intra MXF, Canon XF MXF or Sony XDCAM MXF files?

Don’t worry, iOrgsoft MXF Converter,  can help you out. It can only not help you playback Panasonic P2, Canon XF, Sony XDCAM MXF files on PC and Mac, but also, it can convert you convert MXF files to any formats such as AVI, WMV, MPG, MOV, MP4, FLV, 3GP etc .
